Galena was founded on April 14th, 1987 with the vocation to revolutionize the Brazilian pharmaceutical market. Its history started with the arising of the compound pharmacies in Brazil that had a great difficulty to obtain raw materials in small quantities. That's when Galena was born, with the mission to intermediate the importation of active principles and fractionate them into the needed quantities to these pharmacies. Besides that, guarantees the quality demanded in the sector.

With this compromise Galena has grown and it has also contributed to the development of the entire compound pharmacies segment. But it has also started commercializing big quantity to the Brazilian pharmaceutical, food and veterinarian industries, becoming the main distribution company in the country.

After 20 years of continuous development, Galena started participating in other markets. In 2007 it inaugurated two new businesses divisions, concerned with the final products: Cosmiatria Galena, which produces dermo-cosmetics, and Galena Nutrition®, focused in the development of food supplements.
